We carried the Explorer 1000 v2 over several weekends, and it is exactly the format we hoped for from Jackery. At 10.8 kg with a folding handle, it slips into the boot without a fight, yet it still puts out 1500W continuously, enough to run a kettle or an induction hob while camping, which many stations this size cannot do. The 1070Wh easily cover a night of camping fridge plus charging phones and a laptop. Recharging is the real highlight: in emergency mode via the app, we went from 0 to 100% in one hour on a regular socket, and in quiet mode it drops below 30 dB, so you forget it is there. The two 100W USB-C ports are perfect for a MacBook. The only small gripe is the fairly basic screen and the fan spinning up in the fastest mode. Otherwise, it is a solid, well-built, dependable choice.

The Explorer 2000 v2 is probably the most versatile station in the range, and the first real surprise is its weight: 17.5 kg for 2 kWh, you move it with two fingers where rivals of the same capacity often approach 25 kg. In practice its 2200W let us run a fridge, a kettle and charge tools on a worksite, then switch to an RV weekend without changing any settings. The 2042Wh easily cover a full day of autonomy for a couple. At home we tested it as backup during an outage: the fridge and router stayed powered with no perceptible interruption. Recharging is fast, around 1h40 from the mains, and the app tracks everything. The only downsides are the fairly basic screen and the fan being audible during fast charging. Otherwise, it is an excellent balance of capacity, weight and price.

Several years after its launch, the Jackery Explorer 2000 Plus remains one of the most accomplished large expandable stations, and our test confirms why. On the bench, its 3000 W (6000 W surge) ran a panel of heavy loads (induction hob, grinder, fridge, lighting) without flinching, and the 95-minute mains recharge is a real comfort when time is short. Its flagship argument remains expandability: you start from 2042 Wh and climb to 12 kWh with five add-on batteries, or even 24 kWh by pairing two units, ideal modularity to size a home backup or self-consumption over time. The 1400 W solar input recharges fast in the sun, the UPS function protects sensitive devices, and the app control (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) is complete. Two honest caveats: the weight (27.9 kg, thankfully on wheels with a telescopic handle) and the fact that it has been replaced on some markets by the lighter but less expandable Explorer 2000 v2. If scalability and power come first, the 2000 Plus remains a very solid, proven choice.

The SolarSaga 40W Mini is the entry format of Jackery's solar range, designed for those who carry their gear rather than drive it around. At 1.5 kg with a two-panel fold, it stows flat against the back of a bag and deploys in seconds. Its monocrystalline cells reach around 25% efficiency, an excellent figure that offsets its small surface. It is ideal for feeding a compact station such as an Explorer 100 or 240, or for maintaining the charge of a portable battery over a multi-day hike.
We took this SolarSaga 40W Mini on a three-day trek, and it is the first Jackery panel we genuinely agreed to carry on our backs. The 1.5 kg goes unnoticed once strapped to a hiking pack, where a 100 W at 4 or 5 kg makes itself felt on the first climb. Deployment is immediate: two panels, two kickstands, and it holds the angle even on stony ground. In full mountain sun, it kept an Explorer 240 station afloat throughout the trip, partially recharging it each afternoon during breaks. You have to be realistic about what 40 W represents: this is not a panel that fills a large station in a day, but a charge maintainer and a top-up for small devices. Seen that way, it does exactly its job. Build quality is Jackery's usual standard, with a solid fabric cover and a practical handle. Two caveats: the price per watt stays high compared with bigger panels, and under cloud cover output drops fast given the small surface. For hiking and light bivouac, it is still the most sensible format.

Its 288Wh is plenty for a weekend of bivouac for two (phones, lighting, drone) or as a backup reserve at home. We like the LiFePO4 battery, far more durable than conventional lithium, and the two-hour recharge. Its limits are logical for the size: 300W is not enough for large appliances, and there is no companion app. But for a reliable, compact and well-finished top-up station, it is a safe bet.

Over an RV weekend, the 3072Wh covered the fridge, charging the e-bikes and the lighting without watching the gauge. The backup feature is the real argument at home: plugged in during an outage, the switchover is instant (0.02 s), fast enough not to reboot a computer or a router. Recharging is impressive, under two hours from a regular socket. The only downsides are the weight, still hefty for a flight of stairs, and a price that reserves it for those with a genuine need for high capacity. A solid choice for serious autonomy.

Points to note: like any solar panel, its real output depends heavily on sunlight and orientation (you rarely get the theoretical 80W), and above all this model is mainly distributed in the North American market, so barely available in France. But technically, it is an excellent portable panel, rugged and high-performing.

The IP68 rating is reassuring: we left it out under a passing shower without worry. In return, it is a large, heavy panel (8 kg), better suited to an RV or a semi-fixed setup than to hiking. It also has no USB outputs, being designed to recharge a station via its DC output. For anyone wanting serious, fast solar charging, it is one of the best portable panels on the market.
