The SP029 has a very clear place in the Allpowers line-up: it is the panel you buy when you already own a power station and want to refill it without a petrol generator. The advertised 140 watts is a laboratory peak figure, and in real use you should expect 90 to 110 watts on a good summer day, less as soon as the sun drops or the sky hazes over. That is the industry norm rather than a flaw specific to this model, but it is worth knowing before planning your day around it. The real argument lies elsewhere: the MC4 output accepts 25 amps, which makes it compatible with almost every solar generator sold today, and the bundled cable kit covers Anderson plugs, common DC barrel connectors and crocodile clips for a car battery. The two USB ports and the 18 V socket also let you use it on its own, without a station, which not every competitor offers. The four panels unfold to a little over a metre sixty, so you need space and reasonably flat ground, and the 4.5 kilos make themselves felt on a rucksack, even if they remain reasonable for the deployed area. The product is easy to sum up: solid and versatile, without being the best performer or the best finished in its category. For the money, it is a very coherent companion to a power station.

We set up the R2500 Plus as a home backup reserve, and the format makes itself felt straight away: 29 kg lifted by the two side handles, with no wheels and no telescopic handle, so you set it down once and leave it there. In use, its 2500 W continuous output swallowed a kettle, a hairdryer and an induction hob running at once without flinching, we even flirted with 2250 W and it didn't blink. Mains charging lives up to the claim, a little over an hour for a full charge, and UPS mode kicked in within a fraction of a second during a test outage, with the computer not even restarting. The silicone covers on every port are a smart touch that keeps the sockets from oxidising outdoors. The one real downside is the weight: 29 kg at arm's length, and carrying it up a flight of stairs without a lift is a two-person job. For serious home backup or semi-permanent use in a van, it's a very safe bet.

We used the R600 for several weeks, and for the price it is a pleasant surprise. The first good point is charging: left on a socket over lunch, it comes back full, barely over an hour. Out and about, its 299 Wh covered an evening of camping with an electric cool box, an LED string light and topping up two phones, without strain. We liked the little wireless charging pad on top: drop the phone on it and you are done, no hunting for a cable. The two AC outlets and USB-C ports are plenty for portable use. The UPS function bailed us out during a brief power cut at home, the router did not notice. And above all, the 5-year warranty is genuinely reassuring on a product at this price. Two honest downsides: 299 Wh is a top-up capacity you have to manage, and the lack of battery expansion limits future-proofing. But at this price it is hard to be picky: it is an excellent entry point into portable power.

The S200 delivers on the essentials: it is genuinely compact, slips into a laptop bag, and a 230V mains socket in this format is a real advantage over plain USB power banks. The built-in wireless charging pad is especially handy for dropping a phone on it without a cable, and the 60W USB-C port noticeably speeds up charging a laptop or tablet. In practice, it reliably runs a laptop for several hours, powers small pumps or fans, or steps in briefly during a power cut. The 200W (240W peak) is enough for everyday electronics but leaves out large appliances. We lived with the R1500 for several weeks, and for the price it is impressive. The first shock is charging: plugged in when you get home, it is back to 80% by the time you have put the shopping away, around forty minutes. Its 1800 W swallows a kettle, a microwave or a jigsaw without flinching, where many rivals give up. Camping, its 1152 Wh lasted two days with a cool box, lighting, phone charging and a laptop. We liked the 4 AC outlets, rare at this price, and the generous solar input up to 650 W that fills it quickly in the sun. The UPS function kept the router running during a power cut. The one real downside is the weight: at nearly 17 kg, you do not move it one-handed, it is clearly meant for the van, the car or a fixed spot at home. But given what it offers and its price, it is seriously good value.

The R4000 clearly plays in the big-station league, and you feel it from the first use. Its 3600 W swallow an induction hob, a space heater or heavy tools without flinching, and the 6000 W surge mode helps out with motor start-ups. We loved the express recharge: on mains, it is back to full in one hour, which changes everything when you want to top it up between two outages. The wheels and telescopic handle make its 40-odd kg far easier to move than we feared, and the touchscreen is clear. Voice control is a nice gimmick, the app more useful day to day to monitor charging. The LiFePO4 battery is reassuring on lifespan. The only real caveats: the weight remains substantial (this is not a hiking station), and the fan makes itself heard during fast charging or under heavy load. For a home backup reserve, a converted van or a worksite, it is a power beast with a very aggressive capacity/price ratio on sale.

We tested the S300 Plus for several weeks, and for a station this size it is surprisingly complete. Compact as a small shoebox and light (3.4 kg), it fits anywhere. What stands out first is the USB-C 100 W port: rare at this format, it charges a laptop at full speed, where many rivals cap at 60 W. The wireless charging pad on top and the built-in LED torch are two well-thought-out extras for camping or an outage. We also liked the Bluetooth app, which lets you monitor charging and switch ports off remotely, not that common on such an affordable model. Its 288 Wh and 300 W suit small and medium devices (phones, laptops, lighting, a router, small gear), not running large appliances. Two honest downsides: the 300 W output limits its uses, and a few users report a perfectible finish on the fans. But at under £170, with this level of equipment, it offers formidable value for a first portable station.

The S2000 Pro first impresses with its weight: 13kg for 2400W and 1451Wh is notably lighter than most stations at this power level, a real plus for moving it regularly between home, van and job site. Combined mains + solar charging in 1.5 hours is fast, and the MPPT solar input up to 1000W means you can genuinely rely on the sun to charge on the road. The UPS function is reassuring for home backup use. The flip side of that lightness: the NMC chemistry (ternary lithium battery) offers a rated lifespan of 2500 cycles, decent but below the 3500+ cycles of the LiFePO4 batteries found on models like the R1500 LITE or the R2500, worth keeping in mind for very heavy use over several years. Control is Bluetooth-only (no WiFi), so range is limited to a few metres, and the current version has dropped the 30A RV outlet of earlier versions. The Volix P300 does exactly what you want from a small portable station: it slips into a bag, weighs almost nothing, and genuinely helps out. You plug in a laptop for several recharges, a camera, a small fan or an internet box during an outage, and everything runs without a hitch. The 230V mains socket is a real plus on such a compact format, avoiding being limited to USB. The screen is clear and shows the essential info at a glance. We also like the USB-C for charging phone and tablet at good speed. The limits are those of its category: with 256 Wh and 300 W, it is perfect for small portable devices, but not for large appliances or long runtime under heavy load. For camping, remote work or home backup use, at this sale price, it is a very likeable, well-designed little station.

We used the Solax SE200 over several outings, plugged into different power stations, and it delivers. Deployed facing the sun with the kickstands set at the right angle, it ramps up quickly: in good weather expect 120 to 140 W in real terms, the usual figure for a portable panel (60 to 70% of peak power), enough to fill a 300 Wh station in two to three hours. The efficiency of the monocrystalline cells shows, especially late in the day as the light fades. On the practical side, we like the foldable format that stows away easily, and the sturdy kickstands that keep it well aimed even on uneven ground. The laminated finish and IP68 rating are reassuring: a shower does not worry it. Two honest reservations: unfolded, it is bulky (over two metres long), and its weight is that of a real 200 W panel, you do not carry it for hours. But to recharge your station off-grid, without relying on the mains, it is an efficient, well-built companion at a contained price.

The SP001 is a clever little solar charger, light and foldable, worth keeping in a bag so you never run out of battery on a phone or tablet out in nature. Its two USB ports (USB-A and USB-C) reach up to 18W each, a ceiling close to the panel's own rated output: unlike several other small panels on the market, the ports themselves are almost never the bottleneck, the amount of sunlight available is. We like its featherweight (610g) and its ultra-compact folded format. The limits are obvious and accepted: at 21W, real-world output stays modest and depends heavily on orientation, the connector housing is not built to be waterproof despite the fabric's IP67 rating, and the warranty covers only one year. To top up a phone or tablet while hiking or travelling, at this price, it is a genuinely handy accessory.

The LiFePO4 battery is reassuring for the long run (2000 cycles), and the small screen clearly shows input and output in watts. Solar charging is a real plus for hiking, but watch out: the USB-C to XT60 cable needed to plug in a panel is not included and must be bought separately. The main limit, clear from the outset, is the complete lack of a 230V mains socket: no plugging in a light, a mini-fridge or anything with a standard plug, only USB-C and USB-A devices apply. For anyone who only needs to recharge electronics while travelling light, it's a smart, genuinely portable pick; for backup power at home, a station with a mains output like the S200 is the better call.
