Detailed overview: EcoFlow River 2 Pro portable power station
The EcoFlow River 2 Pro is one of the most balanced portable power stations in the sub-1 kWh category. With its 768 Wh LiFePO4 battery and an 800 W output (up to 1600 W peak thanks to X-Boost technology), it runs small appliances as well as sensitive electronics: a camping fridge, a laptop, a TV, light power tools, lighting or photo and video gear.
Its flagship argument is charging: from 0 to 100% in just 70 minutes from a wall socket thanks to X-Stream fast charging, a time few rivals can match. It also recharges via solar (input up to 220 W, full in about 3 hours in good conditions), in the car or over USB-C, making it versatile for van life, camping or travel.
On connectivity, the River 2 Pro leaves nothing out: 3 AC sockets, 1 USB-C 100 W port, 3 USB-A ports and a 12 V car output, enough to power around ten devices at once. The LFP chemistry is rated for 3000 charge cycles, roughly 10 years of regular use before dropping to 80% capacity, and it includes a backup (EPS) function to protect a router, a NAS or a computer during outages.
Controlled from the EcoFlow app (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth), it lets you monitor consumption, cap the charging power to reduce noise and schedule some uses. Its only real limits: a weight of 7.8 kg that keeps it portable but not ultralight, and a capacity that is not expandable (unlike some newer models). For anyone after a reliable, fast-charging and well-equipped station in a manageable format, the River 2 Pro remains a safe bet.

What is this power station best for?
-
Camping & Tent Ideal
With 768 Wh and 800 W (1600 W X-Boost), the River 2 Pro amply covers a tent weekend, from the cooler to the coffee maker: it powers lighting, charging for the whole group, a fan, a small kettle and even a booster cooking appliance, which few stations of this size allow. Its three outlets and 100 W USB-C share power without a strip, and a full recharge in 70 minutes tops up in record time. Rechargeable up to 220 W from solar, it tops up at camp in good weather. At 7.8 kg, it stays easy to carry, and its LiFePO4 chemistry (3000 cycles) lasts years of seasons.
-
Remote work Ideal
The River 2 Pro powers and protects a full mobile workstation: its 800 W (1600 W X-Boost) run a computer, a dual monitor, a router or 4G box and peripheral charging, and its UPS function shields the setup from micro-cuts to prevent lost work. Its 768 Wh ensure a good day of connectivity away from the outlet, and its 100 W USB-C recharges a laptop along the way. Compact (7.8 kg) and recharged in 70 minutes, it carries and recharges effortlessly from a garden to a co-working spot. A balanced base for regular mobile remote work.
-
Health & CPAP Ideal
For a CPAP machine, the River 2 Pro offers good therapy security: its 768 Wh cover several nights without the heated humidifier, more by running the device on 12 V rather than 230 V, and its UPS function takes over instantly during a micro-cut in sleep, without waking you or interrupting therapy. Compact (7.8 kg) and recharged in 70 minutes, it fits at the bedside at home or travelling and tops up very fast each day. A good capacity/format balance for anyone who depends on nightly respiratory therapy and wants margin over several nights.
-
Motorhome & Van life Suitable
In a van, the River 2 Pro makes a good top-up for several days: its 768 Wh cover lighting, ventilation, device charging and light cooking, and its 800 W occasionally accept a hungrier appliance via X-Boost. A full recharge in 70 minutes tops up at a service area during a break, and a solar input up to 220 W extends autonomy in good weather. Compact (7.8 kg), it stows easily aboard. Its capacity is fixed: to live several days in a row with a permanent fridge and heavy consumption, a higher-capacity station will suit better.
-
Road trip & Car Suitable
On a road trip, the River 2 Pro recharges in the car and keeps your essentials running at stops: it holds a cooler cold, recharges cameras, drones, a laptop and phones, and powers a small camp appliance in the evening. Its 800 W even allow a kettle or a coffee maker during a break, and a full recharge in 70 minutes tops up quickly on a socket. Its 768 Wh and 7.8 kg easily find a place in the boot. For long successive nights off-grid, a solar panel up to 220 W usefully extends its autonomy.
-
Boating Suitable
Aboard, the River 2 Pro secures onboard electronics and takes over at a stop: its 768 Wh and UPS function power navigation electronics, the VHF, lighting and phone charging for an evening or a night, without drawing on the boat’s circuit. Its LiFePO4 chemistry, safer and more stable than conventional lithium, reassures in a confined space. Compact (7.8 kg), it tucks into a locker or cabin, and recharges at the dock in 70 minutes or from solar up to 220 W. A handy mobile reserve for onboard electronics and comfort during an extended stop.
-
Home & Power cuts Backup only
As a stopgap during an outage, the River 2 Pro maintains the essential loads: its UPS function switches over instantly to keep the internet box, router, phones and an LED light running, and its 768 Wh sustain these devices for a good while, even a small fridge for a few hours. It is a handy backup for short-to-medium cuts, best reserved for essential devices. Its capacity remains modest for a whole home over time: to cover more or longer, pair it with a higher-capacity model.
Our team's recommendations based on the model's capacity, output power and weight.

| Observed price | ≈ £392 | ≈ £427 | ≈ £427 | ≈ £427 |
In short, the EcoFlow River 2 Pro remains the most balanced option: it combines one of the fastest recharges in the segment, a contained weight and the best observed price, while offering 3 AC sockets. The Anker SOLIX C800 wins on raw power (1200 W) and a slightly faster recharge, but it is noticeably heavier. The Bluetti EB70S recharges far more slowly, and the Jackery Explorer 700 Plus, very light, offers a little less capacity. For versatile camping, van and home-backup use, the River 2 Pro offers the best overall balance.

Our tester's review: Christophe Delpuech
We kept the River 2 Pro in rotation for several weeks between the office and days out. What strikes you first is the charging: run flat one morning, it was full before we had finished our coffee, barely over an hour. Out in the field, its 768 Wh easily covered an evening of camping with a cool box, lighting and topping up two phones and a laptop. The 3 AC sockets are a real comfort, no fighting to plug things in, and the USB-C 100 W port charges a laptop without its original charger. We also liked the app, handy for capping the charge power and silencing the fans when you want quiet. Two honest downsides: it makes its 7.8 kg felt when you move it around a lot, and the capacity is not expandable, where some recent rivals allow it. But as a first genuinely versatile, fast and well-equipped station, it won us over and remains a benchmark in its class.
