We put the Anker Nano II 65W (model A2667, also sold as the "735 Charger") through daily use, and it does deliver its advertised 65W on the main port, confirmed on a Samsung smartphone during PPS fast charging. Its size is what stands out most: barely 140g for a very compact footprint, with heat kept under 55 °C even under sustained charging thanks to GaN technology. Against the Ugreen Nexode 65W we compared it with side by side, it takes the edge on the dynamic Quick Charge range (20V versus 12V). Two real limits: power is not enough for the most demanding laptops (16-inch MacBook Pro and beyond), and sharing between several devices, fixed and documented by Anker, becomes modest once three of them are plugged in (12W on each of the two secondary ports). It also does not include interchangeable plugs for travel abroad, unlike some rivals. For nomadic use centreed on a smartphone, tablet and standard laptop, it's a compact, dependable choice we'd recommend without hesitation.

We put the Nano 3 (511) through its paces on several devices, and it holds up to its 30W claim: an iPhone 14 Pro pulls around 20W, a Pixel 7 around 18.7W, and even a MacBook Air picks up close to 26.5W for a quick top-up. Thermal behaviour stays steady too, the case settles around 71 °C under sustained full-power use with no drift. One thing to flag before you buy: the folding plug you may have seen mentioned only ships on the US version, ours has fixed prongs, still compact but not the flip-away design. The safety margin before the charger cuts out under overcurrent also felt a touch tight on our unit. Cable is not included and there is only one port, so it is a one-device-at-a-time charger. For a small, fast, dependable everyday brick, it remains a safe bet.

We replaced three chargers with the single Ugreen Nexode 65W, and it is exactly what you want from a good GaN charger: it disappears into a bag pocket and powers the MacBook, the phone and the earbuds at the same time. On the main port, the laptop charges at full speed, you get back half a MacBook Air's battery in a break, and plugging in a second device is no problem, power is shared without you having to think about it. One real limitation showed up when we pushed all three ports at once: charging briefly cuts out and resumes several times in that specific configuration, worth knowing if that is your everyday use case. We really appreciate the included US/UK/EU plugs: abroad, you leave the country adapter at home, a real space saver, though the swap mechanism itself feels like the one part that could break if you pull a plug off in a hurry. The finish is solid and the case does not get warmer than it should. Two more small caveats: when charging three demanding devices at once, each necessarily gets less than the port's 65W on its own, which is logical, and the USB-A is starting to look a little dated against all-USB-C. For a single, compact, travel-ready charger at this price, the Nexode 65W remains a good pick, just do not expect flawless charging every time you load all three ports at once.

The Nitecore IntelliCharger i2 is certainly not the newest or most sophisticated battery charger, but after testing more than 10 chargers of different brands and formats, our team kept this one for its simplicity and durability. It recharges the most common rechargeable formats without any trouble. Extremely solid and long-lasting (we have been using one at the office almost daily since 2014, and it still works without a hitch despite several drops). Protected against overheating and reverse polarity, it stops automatically when the cell is charged or after 10 hours of charging. We also appreciate that it can be powered via a car cigarette-lighter cable, which makes it even more versatile. In short, it only has small LEDs to show charging progress rather than a fancy LCD screen, it is rather rustic, but it is far better and less temperamental than most mains chargers on the market.

Since the launch of this small battery charger, several brands have released a magnetic charger with a similar design. We've had the chance to test 4 others, and none is as good and versatile as the one from Olight. Nothing beats the original, then. Able to charge almost any cylindrical battery, this smart charger detects the battery's technology and charges it accordingly. Basically, it can charge any cylindrical lithium battery with a voltage of 3.6V/3.7V and any cylindrical NiMh cell with a voltage of 1.2V/1.5V. It's hard to get more versatile than this tiny device, which will find its place anywhere thanks to its feather-light weight of 20.5g, for example in an EDC kit or a Bug Out Bag. One of the best chargers on the market, and one of the Best Batteries team's favourites! (Would have scored 5/5 if several colours had been offered.)

In use you quickly grasp what its formula is after: the LCD screen is genuinely pleasant, you see at a glance where each cell stands and how much time is left, no more guessing. The USB power is well thought out, we even used it on a power bank over a weekend. Individual charging lets you mix AA and AAA without trouble. The 4 supplied cells help you get started. Let us be honest about the limits: charging is not the fastest, and some of the included cells age less well than premium eneloop. It is not aimed at users chasing speed or fine analysis functions, but at everyday family use. But for versatile family use, with a clear screen and the flexibility of USB, it does the job very well at a reasonable price.

We tested the MiBoxer C4 for several weeks with a mix of vaping 18650 cells, NiMH AA batteries and a 3.6V LiFePO4 cell salvaged from an emergency light. First essential step: select LiFePO4 mode with the MODE button before charging, otherwise the charger defaults to Li-ion 4.2V. Once that habit is in place, the LCD screen is genuinely useful: voltage, current, internal resistance and real capacity show up bay by bay, and the discharge function on the 4th slot lets you check whether an old cell still holds up before tossing it. Dual mains/12V power is handy when travelling. One honest downside: several users, us included on a smaller scale, report a screen failure after a few weeks to a few months of heavy use, though customer support was responsive. For regular but not constant use, the C4 remains a solid, versatile companion.

On a long trip with three of us in the car, this Ugreen charger proved its worth straight away: three ports, three phones, no more fighting over the socket. The 100W USB-C port kept a MacBook Air charging for the whole trip without ever slowing down, while the other two ports powered the front and back passengers' phones. The included cable is nice, braided and flexible enough, so we did not need to buy one separately, unlike many bare cigarette-lighter chargers. The casing warms up a little when all three ports are working hard at once, but never worryingly so, and it stays firmly in the socket even on rough roads. The one real downside is its size: it sticks out a bit more than a basic cigarette-lighter charger, which can be awkward depending on where the socket sits in the cabin. For a family car or professional use with a laptop, it is a solid investment, living up to the brand's reputation.

The Anker 30W car charger does exactly what you ask of it, no fuss. What I liked first is its size: once plugged in, it barely protrudes from the 12V socket, so it does not get in the way of the gear lever or storage, unlike many chargers that stick out several centimetres. The USB-C and USB-A ports are a real everyday comfort: driver and passenger can charge at the same time, and PowerIQ fast charging tops up an iPhone in a single trip. Anker's finish is neat, the body does not heat up worryingly, and the light ring helps find the ports at night. One USB-C port and one USB-A port, so even an old USB-A cable plugs straight in without an adapter. At this price, it is a reliable, clever little accessory I recommend for fitting any car.

We plugged the driver's phone in for GPS navigation and the passenger's phone at the same time, with no noticeable slowdown on either port. The aluminium body stays warm rather than hot even after a long drive, and it sits firmly in the socket without wobbling on corners. The one real downside: no USB-C port, so no laptop charging or Power Delivery, this is really meant as a phone and tablet charger. For the price and the job it does, it is hard to find anything simpler or more effective.

Over several weeks of daily trips, the Anker 75W car charger's retractable cable genuinely changes the routine: no more digging through the glovebox, it stays clipped to the body, ready to go. Pulling out the 75 cm is firm and confident, and it snaps back in with a single tug, no jerking. The two outputs let the driver charge through the cable while the passenger uses the USB-C port right next to it, with no noticeable slowdown even when charging both at once. The body barely protrudes from the 12V socket and does not run worryingly hot, even after extended fast charging. One small caveat: the cable itself, thin and flexible, is not built for extreme use, a few users report wear after months of heavy pulling, but for normal family use there is nothing to complain about. The CE-BC 4 M owes its reputation to one thing: value for money. At thirty-five pounds you get the essentials of what models three times dearer offer. Microprocessor control splits charging into successive stages, which avoids cooking a battery at the end of the cycle, and the trickle function lets you leave it connected all winter on a car that sits idle. That is exactly the use we recommend it for: the weekend runabout, the motorcycle stored from October to March, the motorhome on its parking space. The IP65 rating deserves a mention at this price. Most rivals in this bracket settle for a closed housing with no declared rating; here dust and splashes are officially covered, which allows a damp garage or a garden shed. The winter mode is not a gimmick either: below 5 °C a battery accepts charge less readily, and the dedicated profile avoids working it as hard as in summer. Two limits to know about. Four amps is comfortable for a small car or a motorcycle battery, but slow on a large diesel estate or motorhome pack: expect a full night for a deeply discharged 100 Ah battery. And it does not handle LiFePO4 lithium batteries, increasingly common on motorhomes and boats; for those, look at the CE-BC 5 M LiFePO4 version. For everything else, it is hard to beat at this price.

Bosch supplies a large share of Europe's original-equipment starter batteries, which lends particular weight to its chargers. The C30 sits at the centre of the C-Line range: 3.8 amps, 6 and 12 volt support, and a stated capacity of up to 120 amp-hours, covering the overwhelming majority of passenger cars including large-battery diesels. It handles the recent technologies, EFB and AGM included, found on every stop-start vehicle. There is a simple reason the C30 has become the shelf reference: Bosch understands batteries better than anyone, since the supplier builds them for half of Europe's carmakers. That expertise shows on one specific point, the handling of EFB and AGM batteries. These technologies now fit every stop-start vehicle, they demand specific charging voltages, and many cheap chargers treat them as ordinary lead-acid, which shortens their life. The C30 applies the right profile. The second argument is admissible capacity: 120 amp-hours, where most chargers of this size stop well short. In practice it is not limited to the city car, it also copes with the large diesel saloon and the family MPV. At 3.8 amps charging stays slow on a deeply flat battery, but that is the very principle of this class of device: gentle charging wears the plates less than a brutal one. In use the housing is sturdy, the clamps are decent, and the supplied carrying case saves you from finding tangled cables in a corner of the garage. Two honest remarks. Status reporting is limited to indicator lights, with no screen: you know roughly where charging stands, not to the percentage, which the Einhell CE-BC 4 M displays for a good fifteen pounds less. And like most lead-acid chargers, it does not handle LiFePO4 lithium. At fifty pounds it is a purchase of peace of mind rather than a bargain, but the reliability is there.

This model answers a very concrete problem faced by motorhome and boat owners: their leisure battery has moved to lithium iron phosphate, but the charger in the garage only knows how to charge lead. Connecting a lead-acid charger to LiFePO4 is not harmless: end-of-charge voltages differ, and some chargers do not even detect a protected cell that has tripped into safety mode. Einhell offers here the cheapest way to cover both worlds, with automatic battery-type detection that removes the risk of a wrong setting. The five amps place the unit a notch above the CE-BC 4 M, which partly offsets the slowness inherent to this class of domestic charger. The power supply mode is a clever addition, usually reserved for far dearer models: it keeps the vehicle's electrical circuit live while you disconnect the battery, so a modern car does not lose its stored settings.
