The centrepiece of the C-Line range
Bosch supplies a large share of the European fleet's starter batteries as original equipment, which gives its chargers particular weight. The C30 is the central model in the C-Line range, built for 6V and 12V batteries in scooters, motorcycles, cars, and pleasure boats.
EFB and AGM, the manufacturer's real expertise
These two technologies equip start-stop vehicles, which now make up most of the recent fleet. An AGM battery charged with a standard lead profile receives the wrong voltage and ages prematurely: the distinction isn't marketing, it has a real effect on longevity. Bosch, which manufactures these batteries, applies the correct profile.
120Ah admissible, but slow charging
A city car battery runs around 45Ah, a diesel saloon around 70 to 80Ah, and a large MPV or van can reach 100Ah. The C30 therefore covers the entire passenger fleet. At 3.8 amps, charging stays slow on a deeply drained battery, but that's the whole point of this type of device: gentle charging wears the plates less than aggressive charging.
Indicator lights rather than a screen, no lithium
The housing is sturdy, the clamps are decent, and the included storage pouch keeps the cables from getting tangled in a corner of the garage.
Who the C30 is for
This charger suits anyone wanting the backing of a recognized battery manufacturer for maintaining a lead-acid, EFB, or AGM car, motorcycle, or boat. For a more detailed display at a lower cost, the Einhell CE-BC 4M remains the best value. For lithium, look to the CE-BC 5M LiFePO4.
