Charging runs through 8 named stages: desulfation, soft start, bulk charge, absorption, analysis, reconditioning (optional), float, then pulse maintenance.
No lithium compatibility, a point worth knowing
The MXS 5.0 handles all 12 V lead-acid batteries: flooded, AGM and Gel, from 1.2 to 110 Ah in active charging, up to 160 Ah in maintenance mode. The official manual does not mention any lithium (LiFePO4) compatibility, in any form.
The MODE button failure, a point of caution
A recurring MODE button failure affects the unit after about three years of use: the button gradually becomes unresponsive, until it stops working altogether. This failure typically occurs after the 5-year warranty has expired.
The case is designed not to open without breaking it, which means no repair is possible in the event of a failure, even outside warranty. The warranty itself is voided if the sealed case is opened.
Safety and use
The unit is protected against reverse polarity and short circuits, with no sparking, and is IP65 certified. Automatic temperature compensation adjusts charging from -20 °C to +50 °C. The 220 to 240 V mains power supply is natively compatible with the French and German grid.
