Detailed overview: Nitecore LR70 3-in-1 camping lantern
The Nitecore LR70 is a 3-in-1 device that combines a high-power flashlight, a 360° camping lantern and a power bank, in a compact, rugged body. The idea: replace three accessories with one, ideal for camping, hiking, bivouacs or an emergency kit.
In flashlight mode, it packs two Luminus SST40 LEDs delivering up to 3000 lumens in Turbo, with a beam reaching 300 m, and several levels (3000, 1000, 300, 35 and 1 lumen) to tune power and runtime, up to 600 hours on the most economical mode. In lantern mode, a diffuser lights 360° up to 400 lumens in white, plus red light modes (steady, low, SOS and flashing beacon) very useful in an emergency or to signal your presence.
The third function is the one that places it in this category: a 10,000 mAh power bank (two built-in 21700 cells) able to recharge a smartphone or a small device via its USB-C port, with QC/PD fast charging. That same USB-C port also recharges the LR70 itself. A row of LEDs shows the remaining battery level.
Built for the outdoors, it carries an IP67 rating (resistant to dust and temporary immersion) and survives 1 m drops. Compact (113 x 60 x 34 mm) and light for its functions (271 g), with a simple two-button interface, the Nitecore LR70 is a real concentrate of versatility for anyone wanting to travel light without going short on light or power.

Comparison
At around £47 to £68, the Nitecore LR70 compares with the most sought-after multi-function lanterns and light-batteries for camping, through searches such as "camping lantern power bank" or "powerful flashlight power bank". Here is how it sits against three alternatives: the Nitecore LR60, the Goal Zero Lighthouse 600 and the BioLite AlpenGlow 500.
| Criterion | Nitecore LR70 | Nitecore LR60 | Goal Zero Lighthouse 600 | BioLite AlpenGlow 500 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Capacity | 10,000 mAh | 10,000 mAh | ≈ 5,200 mAh | ≈ 6,400 mAh |

| Waterproofing | IP67 | IP66 | Not waterproof | IPX4 |
| Observed price | ≈ £60 | ≈ £51 | ≈ £60 | ≈ £68 |
In short, the Nitecore LR70 stands out for its dual role as a powerful flashlight (3000 lm, unique in this comparison) and a 360° lantern, where most rivals stick to the lantern alone. Its 10,000 mAh capacity and IP67 rating also make it one of the most versatile and rugged. The Nitecore LR60 focuses on wireless charging and simplicity, the Goal Zero Lighthouse on its emergency hand crank, and the BioLite AlpenGlow on its colourful light effects. For anyone wanting a single device that lights far, illuminates a camp and recharges a phone, the LR70 is the most complete choice.

Our tester's review: Guillaume Hoarau
We loved the Nitecore LR70 for its Swiss-army-knife take on light. Hiking or camping, having in a single object a flashlight that can light up 300 m away and a mood lantern that glows at 360° genuinely changes things: you light the path, then set the device down in the tent for a warm, pleasant light, without carrying two accessories. The 3000 lumens in Turbo are stunning for the size, and the lantern modes (soft white, plus red, SOS and beacon) are perfect at a bivouac or in a pinch. The power-bank function is the third asset: the 10,000 mAh recharge a smartphone over USB-C, enough to save the day when things get tricky. The build inspires confidence, IP67 waterproof and impact-resistant, and USB-C charging is handy. Two honest nuances: at full power, the runtime drops fast (Turbo is made for short bursts), and at 271 g it is not the lightest accessory. But for anyone wanting a single device that lights up strongly, illuminates a camp and rescues phones, the LR70 is a versatile success.
