Detailed overview: JBL Xtreme 3 Bluetooth speaker
The JBL Xtreme 3 is the most powerful portable Bluetooth speaker in the brand's line-up, built for those who want big sound anywhere. In a rugged cylindrical body it combines power, endurance, waterproofing and a power bank function, making it a true multi-function device for parties and the outdoors.
At the heart of the system are four speakers (two mid-woofers and two tweeters) backed by two side-firing passive radiators, for a total power of 100W RMS, a figure JBL quotes with the speaker running on mains power through its 60 W PD adaptor. The output is immersive, with deep bass and sound that carries far, able to fill a large garden, a beach or a room. Frequency response runs from 53.5 Hz to 20 kHz.
Its large Lithium-ion battery (10000 mAh, or 36.3 Wh) provides up to 15 hours of playback and recharges in 2.5 hours over USB-C (20 V / 3 A). It also powers the power bank feature: its USB outputs (USB-A up to 10 W and USB-C up to 7.5 W, 12.5 W in total since JBL caps both ports at a combined 2.5 A) let you charge a smartphone or a small device, very handy during a long day out or at a festival.
IP67 rated, the Xtreme 3 is fully waterproof and dust-protected: rain, sand and splashes do not worry it. Bluetooth 5.1 provides a stable link, and PartyBoost technology lets you pair several compatible JBL speakers to amplify the sound even further.
For transport, JBL includes a sturdy shoulder strap fitted with a bottle opener, a handy touch for parties. You do have to deal with the size, though: 29.9 cm long and 1.968 kg, this is no pocket speaker. Powerful, long-lasting and versatile, the Xtreme 3 is for those who want the most generous sound possible in a still-transportable format.

Our tester's review: Guillaume Hoarau
When you bring out the Xtreme 3, you do not go unnoticed, and that is the whole point. With its 100W and four speakers, it puts out full sound and bass that moves air: enough to fill an entire garden or a table of twenty people without ever straining. We used it a lot outdoors, and its IP67 rating let us set it down by the pool without worry. The supplied shoulder strap, with its built-in bottle opener, is a real plus for carrying it around, even if at nearly 2 kg you feel it on your shoulder. The USB rescue port saved more than one phone at the end of the evening, which clearly places it among multi-function devices. The 15-hour battery life is decent given the power, but at full volume it drops faster. Two honest downsides: it is bulky and heavy, and its price sits at the top of the range. But for anyone after big, long-lasting portable sound, the Xtreme 3 delivers on its promises.
