Detailed overview: Olight Olantern Classic 2 Pro camping lantern

The Olight Olantern Classic 2 Pro is far more than a simple camping light. Behind its retro-vintage copper body lies a smart LED lantern and a backup battery, a combination that makes it a true multi-function device for bivouacs, the garden or power cuts.

On the lighting side, it offers brightness that adjusts steplessly from 10 to 300 lumens via a smooth rotary knob. Two moods are available: a warm white light (about 2800 to 3000 K) for reading or cooking, and a soft orange light (about 2000 to 2100 K) to preserve night vision and create a cosy atmosphere. Everything can also be controlled from the Olight app, which shows the battery level in real time and gives access to a timer and a sleep mode.

Its built-in 11,200 mAh (40.32 Wh) rechargeable battery provides up to 180 hours of runtime, or 7.5 days, in eco mode, enough for several nights of camping. That same battery gives it its second function: an 18W power bank, with two outputs (USB-C and USB-A) able to charge a smartphone or a small accessory. A tricolour LED indicator shows the remaining charge at a glance.

Charging is via USB-C, with a handy magnetic charging option as well, as on many Olight products. Allow about 4 hours for a full charge. Weather-resistant (IPX5 rating), the lantern handles the rain and water spray of outdoor use, but it carries no dust-protection rating and must not be submerged. Rugged, elegant and long-lasting, the Olantern Classic 2 Pro appeals to campers and lovers of fine objects alike, with only a notable weight and a premium price as reservations.

We have a real soft spot for this Olantern Classic 2 Pro, as much for its looks as for what it can do. The retro copper style looks great on a camping table or a shelf at home, and the light is superb: the knob lets you dial in the mood precisely, from warm white for reading to soft orange for an evening. App control is a clever touch, you check the battery level and set a timer without getting up. What places it among multi-function devices is its power bank function: with USB-C and USB-A outputs up to 18W, it recharged our phones during a weekend out in nature, a real plus when you are far from an outlet. Runtime is impressive in eco mode, holding several nights without a recharge. Two honest reservations: it is fairly heavy for a lantern, and its price sits above basic camping lights. But for the quality of light, the style and the dual lighting-battery role, it is well worth a look.

Frequently asked questions: Olight Olantern Classic 2 Pro camping lantern

Yes. Its built-in battery works as an 18W power bank, with USB-C and USB-A outputs. It charges a smartphone or a small device, making it a genuinely versatile camping lantern.

Up to 180 hours, or 7.5 days, in eco mode (low brightness). At the full 300 lumens the runtime is much shorter, but it easily lasts several nights of camping in reasonable use.

In two ways: via the rotary knob for stepless control from 10 to 300 lumens, or from the Olight app, which also lets you switch between warm white and orange light and set a timer.

Yes, it has an IPX5 rating: it resists water jets from any direction, which makes it suitable for outdoor use, whether camping or in the garden. The IPX5 rating does not cover dust, however, and the lantern must not be submerged.
