CTEK PRO25S: our full review

25A, lead-acid up to 500Ah and LiFePO4 up to 450Ah, a SUPPLY mode to preserve the vehicle's memory: the PRO25S clearly targets the professional workshop, with a price and 2-year warranty that confirm it.

CTEK PRO25S 25A professional battery charger

The essentials

The PRO25S stands clearly apart from consumer chargers: 25A of current, compatibility covering lead-acid up to 500Ah and LiFePO4 up to 450Ah with a dedicated wake function for lithium cells dropped into protection, a reconditioning program, and a SUPPLY mode that turns the unit into a stabilized power supply to preserve the vehicle's memory during diagnostics. IP44 protection and a compact footprint despite the power round out the picture. The caveats come with the accepted professional positioning: a 2-year warranty shorter than the usual 5 years on consumer CTEK units, and a 2-meter cable judged a bit short for some workshop setups. For occasional home use, a NOCO Genius5 or Genius10 is plenty; for a professional or enthusiast dealing with heavy or lithium batteries, the PRO25S is built for intensive use.

Strengths

  • 25A charging current, two and a half times the power of a NOCO Genius10
  • Compatible with lead-acid (40-500Ah) AND lithium LiFePO4 (30-450Ah), with a dedicated lithium wake function
  • RECOND reconditioning and desulfation program for tired lead-acid batteries
  • SUPPLY mode that turns the unit into a stabilized power supply to preserve the vehicle's memory
  • IP44 protection and a compact footprint (235 x 130 x 65mm, 1.8kg) despite the power

Limitations

  • 2-year manufacturer warranty, shorter than the usual 5 years on consumer CTEK units
  • 2-meter cable judged a bit short for some workshop setups
  • Price runs well above home chargers like the NOCO Genius5/10
  • Oversized and pricier than necessary for occasional upkeep of a single car
  • No independent measurement confirms the exact accuracy of the stated 25A under continuous load

A charger built for the workshop

The CTEK PRO25S is a professional-grade 12V battery charger and power supply, built for auto shops, dealerships, and demanding users who need far more power than a consumer charger.

Lead-acid and LiFePO4, with a real lithium wake function

Its versatility is its main strength: it handles both lead-acid batteries (flooded, Ca/Ca, AGM, EFB, gel) from 40 to 500Ah and lithium LiFePO4 batteries from 30 to 450Ah, thanks to a dedicated patented system that restores, charges, and maintains lithium without degrading it. Its wake function even revives lithium batteries dropped into low-voltage protection, a case many chargers simply give up on.

RECOND and SUPPLY, two workshop functions

The PRO25S combines several profiles in one unit: a RECOND reconditioning and desulfation program to bring a tired lead-acid battery back to life, and a SUPPLY mode that turns it into a stabilized 12V power supply, very useful in a workshop to maintain the vehicle's memory (ECUs, coding) during diagnostics or a battery swap without disconnecting. Its 8-step charge adjusts automatically via an external temperature sensor, staying effective from -20°C to +50°C.

IP44 and compact, but a short cable and reduced warranty

It's IP44 protected against splashes and dust, spark-free and protected against reverse polarity, with a fan to dissipate the heat generated by its power, unlike small passive, silent maintainers.

Worth knowing: its 2-meter cable can feel a bit short for some workshop setups, and its 2-year warranty is shorter than the usual 5 years on consumer CTEK units like the MXS 5.0, a logical nuance for a unit used more intensively.

Who the PRO25S is for

For occasional home use, a NOCO Genius5 or Genius10 is plenty; for a professional or enthusiast juggling several vehicles, heavy batteries, and lithium, the CTEK PRO25S is built for intensive use.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. It has a dedicated patented system for lithium LiFePO4 batteries from 30 to 450Ah, with a wake function able to revive a battery dropped into low-voltage protection.

The PRO25S delivers 25A versus 10A for the Genius10, and charges lead-acid batteries up to 500Ah versus 230Ah. More expensive, it targets professional or intensive use.

SUPPLY mode turns the unit into a stabilized 12V power supply. It lets you remove the battery from the vehicle for diagnostics or replacement without losing the memory of the ECUs and electronic settings.

It remains usable, but it's oversized and pricier than needed for maintaining a single car now and then. For that case, a NOCO Genius5 or Genius10 is plenty.
