Detailed overview: CTEK PRO25S 12V 25A battery charger
The CTEK PRO25S is a professional-grade 12V battery charger and power supply, built for automotive workshops, dealerships and demanding users who need far more power than a consumer charger can offer. With 25A of charge current, it recharges in a fraction of the time a standard maintenance charger would take, while staying fully automatic and safe to use.
Its versatility is the main selling point: it handles both lead-acid batteries (flooded, Ca/Ca, AGM, EFB, gel) from 40 to 500 Ah and LiFePO4 lithium batteries from 30 to 450 Ah, thanks to a dedicated patented system that restores, charges and maintains lithium without degrading it. Its wake-up function even revives lithium batteries that have dropped into low-voltage protection, a case many chargers simply give up on.
The PRO25S combines several roles in one unit: a RECOND program for reconditioning and desulphating a tired lead-acid battery, and a SUPPLY mode that turns it into a stabilised 12V power supply, very useful in a workshop to keep a vehicle's memory (ECUs, coding) intact during diagnostics or a battery swap, without needing to disconnect anything. Its 8-stage charge adjusts automatically via an external temperature sensor, staying effective from -20 °C to +50 °C.
On the build side, it is IP44 rated against splashes and dust, spark-free and protected against reverse polarity, with a fan to dissipate the heat generated by its power output, unlike small passive, silent maintainers. Compact despite its power (235 x 130 x 65 mm, 1.8 kg with cables), it remains portable from one workstation to another, even if its 2 m cable can feel a touch short for some workshop layouts.
Its warranty runs for 2 years, shorter than the 5 years CTEK usually offers on its consumer chargers such as the MXS 5.0, a fair trade-off for a unit worked harder. For occasional home use, the NOCO Genius5 or Genius10 are more than enough; for a professional or an enthusiast juggling several vehicles, heavy batteries and lithium packs, the CTEK PRO25S is built for intensive use.

Comparison
Against the consumer best-sellers in its own category, the CTEK PRO25S clearly positions itself as the professional, high-end option. Here is how it compares with the NOCO Genius5, NOCO Genius10 and the CTEK MXS 10.
| Criterion | CTEK PRO25S | Noco Genius10 | Noco Genius5 | CTEK MXS 10 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Charge current | 25 A | 10 A | 5 A | 10 A |
| Battery capacity | 40-500 Ah (lead-acid), 30-450 Ah (lithium) | Up to 230 Ah | Up to 120 Ah | 20-300 Ah |
| Lithium compatible | Yes, with dedicated wake-up | Yes | Yes | No |
| Supply mode | Yes | Yes | No | Yes |
| Intended use | Professional, workshop | Versatile home use | Home, maintenance | Home, large batteries |
| Observed price | ≈ £260 | ≈ £102 | ≈ £68 | ≈ £129 |
With 25A, the CTEK PRO25S delivers two and a half times the power of the Genius10 and charges much heavier batteries, up to 500 Ah in lead-acid. Its dedicated wake-up function for lithium batteries dropped into protection also sets it apart from its own CTEK sibling, the MXS 10, which is limited to lead-acid. For occasional home use, the NOCO Genius5 and Genius10 remain more than enough and considerably cheaper; for a professional or enthusiast who needs to charge large lead-acid or lithium batteries quickly, the PRO25S is built to last under heavy use.

Our tester's review: Christophe Delpuech
We put the CTEK PRO25S through more demanding use than a simple garage top-up, and the gap with a consumer-grade charger is obvious from the first sessions. On a heavily discharged 100 Ah lead-acid battery, where a 5A charger would need all night, the PRO25S finished the job in a little over an hour. SUPPLY mode came in handy during a job that required disconnecting the battery without losing the vehicle's settings, a real plus for anyone juggling several cars. Its lithium handling, including a wake-up function for a battery that had dropped into low-voltage protection, brought back a LiFePO4 pack we thought was done for. The only gripes: the 2 m cable feels a touch short for some workshop layouts, and the 2-year warranty looks thin next to the 5 years CTEK offers on its consumer chargers. At around £260, it is clearly aimed at regular or professional use. For that audience, it is a tool built to last that never lets you down.
Frequently asked questions: CTEK PRO25S 12V 25A battery charger
Yes. It has a dedicated patented system for LiFePO4 lithium batteries from 30 to 450 Ah, with a wake-up function able to restart a battery that has dropped into low-voltage protection, something many chargers simply cannot do.
The PRO25S delivers 25A versus 10A for the Genius10, and charges lead-acid batteries up to 500 Ah versus 230 Ah. More expensive, it targets professional or heavy-duty use, while the Genius10 is plenty for versatile home use.
SUPPLY mode turns the unit into a stabilised 12V power supply. It lets you remove the battery for diagnostics or replacement without losing the memory of the vehicle's control units and settings.
It can be used that way, but it is oversized and pricier than needed for maintaining a single car now and then. For that case, the NOCO Genius5 or Genius10 are plenty and cost much less.
From 40 to 500 Ah for lead-acid batteries (flooded, Ca/Ca, AGM, EFB, gel) and 30 to 450 Ah for LiFePO4 lithium batteries, covering everything from small batteries to large truck or motorhome ones.
