Detailed overview: Ugreen 5000mAh MagSafe mini power bank

The Ugreen Nexode Mini 5000mAh is a magnetic power bank for iPhone that plays the extreme-compactness card. It attaches to the back of the phone via its MagSafe-compatible magnets, aligns automatically with the charging coil and charges the device wirelessly, without a single cable.

Magnetic charging runs at 7.5W, the norm for this kind of magnetic battery, enough for a discreet top-up through the day. For more speed, a USB-C port takes over on the wire at up to 15W, and above all Ugreen includes a 0.5 m USB-C cable (rated up to 60W) in the box, an accessory rarely provided in this segment. A low-current mode also gently charges wireless earbuds.

Its real argument is the format: barely 1.31 cm thick (10.58 x 6.87 cm) with a soft-touch, non-slip silicone surface, it is among the thinnest in its class and disappears completely on the back of the phone or in a pocket. Its 5,000 mAh (around 18.5 Wh) give roughly one full charge to an iPhone, enough to see out a day or top up in the evening.

Compatible with iPhone 12 to 15 (with a MagSafe-compatible case where needed), and under the 100 Wh cabin limit for travel, UGREEN's Nexode Mini 5000mAh is for anyone after the thinnest, best-finished magnetic battery for a daily top-up, cable already included.

Comparison

At around £34 to £51, the Ugreen Nexode Mini 5000mAh compares with small MagSafe magnetic batteries, targeted by searches such as "MagSafe power bank" or "magnetic power bank". Here is how it sits against three alternatives: the Anker MagGo 5K, the Belkin BoostCharge Magnetic 5K and the Baseus Magnetic Mini.

The Nexode Mini stands out above all for its thinness, its silicone finish and its included USB-C 60W cable, absent from its rivals. In return, its wireless charging stays at 7.5W where the Anker MagGo 5K and the Baseus Magnetic Mini reach 15W: it aims more at finish and convenience than raw speed. The Belkin, also at 7.5W, leans on its premium brand. At 5,000 mAh, all give about one iPhone charge. If you want the fastest charging, look to a 15W model; if you value a thin, well-made object delivered with its cable, the Nexode Mini is a polished choice.

We adopted the Ugreen Nexode Mini as a backup battery for the iPhone, and it is the ideal companion for days when you travel light. You slap it onto the back of the phone, the MagSafe magnets align it perfectly, and you keep using the iPhone while it charges wirelessly, with no dangling cable. What strikes you first is how thin it is: barely thicker than a slightly generous case, it does not unbalance the phone in hand and vanishes into a pocket. The soft-touch silicone finish is pleasant and grippy. We also like that the USB-C cable is included, which is far from standard, handy for wired charging at 15W. Two honest caveats: wireless charging stays at 7.5W, fine for topping up but not the fastest on the market (some rivals reach 15W), and with 5,000 mAh you get about one iPhone charge. It is also a little pricey for its class. But for a genuinely thin, well-finished magnetic battery that is complete out of the box, the Nexode Mini appeals to those who value lightness and a carefully made object.
