Detailed overview: Zendure AB3000X 2880 Wh storage battery

The Zendure AB3000X is a 2880 Wh lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) storage module, designed as the capacity extension for the SolarFlow 2400 AC. It is the block that turns that hub into a genuine energy reserve: electricity produced during the day, or bought when the tariff is low, is stored and released in the evening instead of being drawn from the grid at peak price.

One point decides most purchases, and it is worth settling first: the AB3000X belongs to a generation that now has a successor. Zendure has since released the SolarFlow 2400 AC+ and the SolarFlow 2400 Pro, and both run on a different battery, the AB3000L. The two families do not mix. Zendure states on its own pages that the AB3000L works with the SolarFlow 2400 Pro and the SolarFlow 2400 AC+ only, and is not compatible with the AB3000X or the SolarFlow 2400 AC. In practice: an AB3000X bought by mistake for an AC+ is unusable, and so is an AB3000L bought for a 2400 AC. Check which hub is on the wall before ordering, because the model names give nothing away.

What that means concretely depends on where you stand. If a SolarFlow 2400 AC is already installed, the AB3000X is the reference you need and the only one that will extend it, which is why Zendure keeps it on sale alongside the newer range. If you are starting from nothing, there is a real decision to make: the older platform is still sold and currently discounted, but every battery added to it locks the installation into a line the manufacturer has stopped developing.

On the numbers, the module holds 2880 Wh, or 60 Ah at a nominal 48 volts. Up to six can be stacked for 17,280 Wh (17.28 kWh). Maximum charge and discharge power is 2880 W with a single module and rises to 3840 W from two modules onwards, so adding a second battery buys throughput as well as capacity. The 48 volt architecture limits conversion losses compared with the older low-voltage packs, and a BMS monitors the temperature, voltage and current of each cell.

Zendure rates the LiFePO4 cells at 6000 cycles and covers the module with a 10-year warranty. The enclosure is IP65 and houses an aerosol fire extinguishing system that releases automatically if a cell runs away, a safety feature that is still uncommon at this price. A self-heating function operates between -20 °C and 0 °C, where most batteries simply refuse to charge, and discharge is specified from -20 °C to 60 °C. At 26.1 kg the module is meant to be placed once and left there.

Read line by line, the two modules are near twins: same energy, same chemistry, same rated life, same IP65 shell and the same aerosol suppression. The AB3000X even holds the advantage on power, at 2880 W alone and 3840 W in pairs against 1680 W and 1920 W. What separates them is the hub each one talks to, and on that point there is no overlap at all: the AB3000X extends the SolarFlow 2400 AC and nothing else, while the AB3000L is reserved for the SolarFlow 2400 AC+ and the SolarFlow 2400 Pro. Buying the wrong one leaves you with 26 kg of hardware that will not connect to anything.

The AB3000X has to be read differently now that Zendure has moved its range on. It is the storage module of the SolarFlow 2400 AC generation, and of that generation alone. The newer SolarFlow 2400 AC+ and SolarFlow 2400 Pro are built around a different module, the AB3000L, which Zendure describes on its own product pages as compatible with those two hubs only and not compatible with the AB3000X or the SolarFlow 2400 AC. The statement runs both ways: an AB3000X will not extend an AC+, and an AB3000L will not extend a 2400 AC. Nothing in the model names makes that obvious, which is precisely why it belongs at the top of the page rather than in a footnote. What makes the split awkward is how close the two modules are on paper. Both hold 2880 Wh, that is 60 Ah at 48 volts of lithium iron phosphate, both are rated for 6000 cycles, both are IP65 and both carry an aerosol fire extinguishing system. The divide is architectural and commercial, not electrical. The one real difference favours the older module: the AB3000X is rated 2880 W on its own and 3840 W from two modules, against 1680 W and 1920 W for the AB3000L. Judged on its own terms the AB3000X is a serious block. Six modules bring the system to 17.28 kWh, the 48 volt architecture keeps conversion losses lower than the low-voltage packs of the previous range, and the self-heating function keeps the module working between -20 °C and 0 °C, which matters for an enclosure that stays outdoors all year. At 26.1 kg it is not something to move about, so its position should be settled before the first bolt goes in, and the 10-year warranty sits at the top of what this category offers. So the advice splits cleanly. If a SolarFlow 2400 AC is already installed, the AB3000X is the only module that will extend it, and Zendure still sells it for exactly that reason.
