Detailed overview: EcoFlow Stream AC 5000 home battery, no built-in inverter
The EcoFlow Stream AC 5000 is the inverter-free version of the new Stream 5000 generation, announced by EcoFlow on 20 August 2026. Where the plain Stream 5000 carries its own inverter for a brand new setup, the AC version connects straight over AC to a balcony solar system that is already in place, provided it already has a microinverter. It is therefore pure energy storage, aimed at people who already own a solar kit and simply want to store the surplus instead of letting it flow back to the grid.
Its 5024 Wh LiFePO4 battery exchanges up to 3000 W with the setup, both charging and discharging, and EcoFlow rates it for 10,000 cycles and a 15 year design life, backed by a 10 year manufacturer warranty. The casing is IP65 rated against rain and dust, with an operating range of -20 to 55 degrees C, which allows outdoor installation or an unheated room. A near instant UPS switchover port is also listed, to keep priority circuits powered during an outage.
The system is modular: a single unit already covers a household's evening consumption, and adding EB5000 extension batteries takes a single tower up to 15 kWh. Combining several towers, EcoFlow states a total capacity of up to 90 kWh, a positioning that goes well beyond balcony storage and into full home storage territory.
The product has just been announced and, at the time of writing, is confirmed available for order on the UK EcoFlow store, while still on pre-order in several other European markets. The price shown here is the one seen at launch and may change in the following weeks. No customer reviews are available yet.

Comparison
How does the EcoFlow Stream AC 5000 compare with other high end solar storage batteries, for searches like "best 5kWh solar storage battery"? Here is how it stacks up against two references already in the catalogue: the Anker Solix Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro and the Zendure SolarFlow 2400 AC.
| Criterion | Stream AC 5000 | Solix E5000 Pro | SolarFlow 2400 AC |
|---|---|---|---|
| Capacity | 5024 Wh | 5024 Wh | 2880 Wh |
| Built-in inverter | No, AC coupling only | Yes, with 4 MPPT | Yes, AC coupling |
| AC exchange | 3000 W | 2500 W | 2400 W |
| Expandable | 15 kWh (90 kWh networked) | Up to 30 kWh | Up to 17.28 kWh |
| Price seen | ≈ £1499 | ≈ £1899 | ≈ £1199 |
In short, the Stream AC 5000 targets a precise use case: adding storage to a setup that already has its own inverter, without paying for redundant electronics. Against it, the Solarbank 4 E5000 Pro costs more but includes everything, panels included, with the widest expansion in the comparison. The SolarFlow 2400 AC remains the cheapest option, but with a much lower base capacity. For anyone who already runs a working balcony solar kit, the Stream AC 5000 is the most direct way to grow its storage capacity.

Frequently asked questions: EcoFlow Stream AC 5000 home battery, no built-in inverter
Yes, but not built into the battery: the Stream AC 5000 connects over AC to a microinverter you already have. That is what sets it apart from the plain Stream 5000, which carries its own inverter for a brand new setup.
Both share the same 5024 Wh capacity, but the Stream 5000 includes an inverter to start a solar setup from scratch, while the Stream AC 5000 has none and only adds storage to an existing system.
Yes. EB5000 extension batteries take a single tower up to 15 kWh, and combining several towers brings the stated total capacity up to 90 kWh.
The product has just been announced. It is confirmed orderable on the UK EcoFlow store, while several other markets still list it as pre-order at the time of writing. Price and availability shown here will be rechecked in the weeks after launch.
Its casing is IP65 rated against rain and dust, with a stated operating range of -20 to 55 degrees C, which allows outdoor installation or placement in an unheated room.
