The backlit LCD screen stays readable in bright sunlight and in the dark, and the unit works right out of the box, with no account or app to install.
The supplied kit includes the display, the Smart-Shunt, a connecting cable and a ground strap: enough to cover a complete install with no extra accessory, aside from the optional Bluetooth module covered later in this review.
0.1A and 0.1V resolution, with no stated accuracy percentage
The supplied shunt's rating sets the unit's reliable measuring range: 100A continuous, 120A with good cooling, and tolerated peaks of 150A for 15 minutes then 200A for 7 minutes. Beyond that, the reading saturates, which is why the same line-up also includes the 200 S and 400 S variants: the choice between them depends on the maximum continuous current actually drawn by the connected loads, not on the amp-hour capacity of the battery being monitored.
The Smart-Shunt supplied with this generation is stated to be noticeably more accurate than its predecessor, with a stated resolution of 0.1A and 0.1V. That is a decent resolution for everyday use, but a notch below the Victron SmartShunt and BMV-712, which share the same 500A/50mV shunt and state a resolution of 0.01A and 0.01V, ten times finer on paper.
Another difference: Votronic states no overall accuracy percentage for this model, where Victron states 99.6% for the SmartShunt and 0.4% on current / 0.3% on voltage for the BMV-712. Those Victron figures remain manufacturer data with no independent verification, but their mere existence at least gives the reader a ballpark, missing from the Votronic spec sheet.
No native Bluetooth: the S-BC module is optional, not standard

The unit's dedicated lithium profile (configurable to the exact battery reference via a numeric code listed in the manual) reduces this risk, but getting that profile and the paired charger's cut-off threshold right remains what actually matters. A regular full charge, already recommended in the unit's own manual for initial calibration, remains the simplest way to reset the display if a gap of this kind shows up.
