With the Anker Prime cigarette lighter charger, Best Batteries opens a brand new category in its car charger range: magnetic wireless charging on the go. Until now, our four Anker cigarette lighter chargers (323, 30W, 75W and 167.5W) all relied on wired USB ports. The Prime takes a completely different approach: it clips magnetically to the back of an iPhone (MagSafe and Qi2 compatible) and charges without any cable plugged into the phone itself, only the charger stays connected to the car's 12V socket.
Qi2 certified at 25W, the Prime delivers the highest wireless output currently available for in-car use: enough to bring an iPhone 17 up to 50% battery in just 22 minutes, up to 6 times faster than a standard 5W wireless charger. That speed comes with an active TEC (thermoelectric) cooling system, a technology more commonly found in aerospace: a built-in fan carries heat away from the charging surface, keeping the phone below 31 °C where a typical wireless competitor often climbs past 42 °C during extended use. ActiveShield 5.0 runs up to 10 million temperature checks a day, and the whole unit is TÜV Rheinland certified.
On the mounting side, two 13N magnets hold the phone firmly even on rough roads, with 360° rotation and a 32° adjustable tilt to switch between portrait and landscape. Mounted on my car's air vent for three weeks now, the Prime has changed how I charge on the move: no more cable to plug into the phone, the iPhone clips on and starts charging the moment it touches the pad. On a one-hour commute I easily pick up 40 to 45% battery, plenty to get through the day after forgetting to charge overnight. What surprised me most is the complete absence of overheating even in summer, dashboard baking in direct sun: the phone stays warm, never hot, unlike my old basic induction mount. The magnets hold firmly, even over speed bumps in town. Two honest gripes: the price, well above a standard wired charger, and the vent compatibility, which rules out vertical or round vents, worth checking before you buy. For daily use with heavy GPS navigation, this is easily the best car charger I've tested this year.
