Thlevel 30A PWM

The Thlevel 30A PWM is a solar charge controller built for small standalone 12V or 24V systems. It sits between the solar panel and the battery to regulate charging, protect the battery from overvoltage and extend its lifespan, an essential link in any off-grid solar kit.

Its PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) technology is simpler than an MPPT controller, but remains efficient and proven for small systems where the panel and battery voltages are close. It automatically detects the system voltage (12V or 24V) and handles up to 30A of charging current and 10A of load current, with a maximum solar input of 50V. It is compatible exclusively with lead-acid batteries (flooded, AGM, GEL) and is not suited to lithium or NiMH batteries.

Settings are handled through three buttons and an LCD screen that shows battery voltage and charge status in real time. The float charge threshold (13.7V by default), low-voltage disconnect (10.7V) and reconnect voltage (12.6V) are all adjustable to suit different battery profiles. Two 5V/2A USB ports let you charge a phone or a small lamp directly, without drawing on the main battery.

On the safety side, the controller includes protection against short circuits, open circuits, reverse polarity and overload, with 3-level PWM load management. Its dual MOS reverse-current protection keeps heat output low and improves reliability, across a wide operating range of -35 °C to +60 °C. Compact (133 x 70 x 35 mm) and light (132g), it fits easily into the electrical box of a van, a shed or a boat.

Its limits are those of the entry-level PWM category as a whole: no maximum power point tracking like an MPPT controller, so lower efficiency in low light, and no compatibility whatsoever with lithium batteries. But to equip a modest lead-acid setup, garden lighting, a shed or a small backup system, on a tight budget, the Thlevel 30A PWM remains a simple, reliable choice trusted by thousands of users.
