Detailed overview: EcoFlow Stream 800 W solar microinverter
The EcoFlow Stream Microinverter is an energy conversion device designed for balcony solar. Its job is simple: turn the DC produced by solar panels into 230 V AC, fed straight into the home through a household socket, with no work and no changes to your electrical panel. It is the most accessible brick of the EcoFlow Stream ecosystem, to which you can later add storage batteries (Stream AC, Pro, Ultra) to go further.
On the solar side, it carries two independent MPPT trackers, each accepting up to 600 W, or 1200 W of panels in total, with a voltage range of 16 to 60 V and a maximum current of 16 A per input. These two MPPTs let you install panels facing different directions (east, west, south) without shading or a poor orientation on one penalising the whole. Grid output is 800 W (800 VA, 3.48 A at 230 V), a ceiling set to stay compliant with plug-in feed-in rules, while the hardware accepts more on the input side.
Two assets set it apart. First, remarkable sensitivity: the microinverter starts from just 3 W of solar input, which lets it produce early in the morning, at dusk and in low light. Second, unusual ruggedness for this kind of device: the IP67 rating protects it against rain and dust (resistance even to temporary immersion), and it works from -40 to 65 C. Compact (252 x 180 x 35 mm) and light (3.2 kg), it is compatible with 99% of panels on the market thanks to its MC4 connectors.
Control runs through the EcoFlow app (Wi-Fi), enhanced with Eco-AI smart management: the time-of-use mode analyses grid and solar data to maximise savings, and the AI assistant offers monitoring and remote control. The app also connects to smart meters and third-party platforms to track consumption in real time. It is all backed by a 10-year warranty. EcoFlow claims up to 1140 kWh produced per year and around 91 euros of annual savings, depending on the installation.

Comparison
How does the EcoFlow Stream Microinverter compare with other balcony-solar solutions?
| Criterion | EcoFlow Stream | Zendure SolarFlow 800 | Hoymiles HMS-800W |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grid output | 800 W | 800 W | 800 W |
| Solar input | 1200 W (2 MPPT) | 1200 W (2 MPPT) | 2 MPPT |
| Ingress rating | IP67 | IP65 | IP67 |
| Startup | From 3 W | Low light | Standard |
| Storage / app | Stream ecosystem, Eco-AI | AB batteries, app | No storage |
Against the Zendure SolarFlow 800, the EcoFlow Stream stands out with its IP67 rating (versus IP65), its 3 W startup and its Eco-AI-powered app. Compared with a plain microinverter like the Hoymiles, it opens the door to a genuine, expandable storage ecosystem, while staying very affordable.

Our tester's review: Julien De Jurquet
The Stream is the microinverter with which EcoFlow simplifies the way into balcony solar, and in use it is convincing. Installation genuinely lives up to the plug-and-play promise: you screw on the bracket, clip in the panels' MC4 connectors, plug the supplied mains cable into a socket, and the EcoFlow app walks you through the rest in about fifteen minutes, with no electrician. Two details make the difference day to day. First, sensitivity: the microinverter kicks in from just 3 W of input, so it scavenges energy early in the morning and at dusk, where others stay idle. Second, ruggedness: the IP67 rating, rare on this kind of device, makes it indifferent to driving rain, and it works from -40 to 65 C. App control, with the peak/off-peak mode and the Eco-AI assistant, is clear and gives precise production graphs. Two honest caveats: on its own, without a Stream ecosystem battery, the appeal is limited to daytime self-consumption (unused energy is lost); and the output is capped at 800 W to stay within grid rules, although the hardware could do more. But to start cleanly, it is an excellent base.
Frequently asked questions: EcoFlow Stream 800 W solar microinverter
Yes, it feeds solar production straight into the home for self-consumption. But energy not used at that moment is lost: to store it and release it in the evening, you add a battery from the Stream ecosystem (AC, Pro or Ultra).
Up to 1200 W across two MPPT inputs (2 x 600 W), for a grid output capped at 800 W. Third-party panels are compatible if they use MC4 connectors and stay within 16-60 V and 16 A max per input.
Yes, and better than most: its IP67 rating protects it against dust and water, including temporary immersion, and it works from -40 to 65 C. It is built for a permanent outdoor installation, backed by a 10-year warranty.
No. The Stream is plug and play: you fix the bracket, connect the panels via the MC4 connectors and plug the supplied mains cable into a household socket. Setup is done through the EcoFlow app in about fifteen minutes.
