The Einhell TC-PG 25/1/E5 sits at the bottom of the German brand's petrol generator range, just below the TC-PG 35/E5. It is aimed at occasional use: keeping a house going through a power cut, feeding a site with no mains connection, or running tools in a garden far from the meter.
Its four-stroke engine meets European emissions regulation 2016/1628 (stage 5) and drives a synchronous alternator. It is rated at 2100 watts continuous and 2400 watts maximum, which works out at 9.1 amps of rated current at 230 volts. Two 230 volt sockets sit on the front panel alongside an analogue voltmeter showing the delivered voltage at all times.
Automatic voltage regulation, the AVR, smooths out the swings as the load changes. It is not the equivalent of an inverter generator's electronics, but it is more than enough for lighting, a fridge, a pump, a fan heater or power tools. For a laptop or sensitive audio gear, an inverter model such as the Scheppach SG2500i remains the better fit.
The real selling point lies elsewhere: the 15-litre tank with its level gauge. That is the capacity normally found on generators of 3000 watts and up. Set against the fuel consumption of a 2100 watt engine, it yields up to 12.5 hours of running at two-thirds load, enough to cover a full night or a working day without refuelling.
For safety and longevity the unit carries an overload breaker and a low-oil cut-out that stops the engine before damage occurs. Starting is by recoil cord. The tubular frame protects the engine and doubles as a carrying handle, but there are no wheels and no telescopic handle: at 36.82 kilos this is a two-person lift or a boot job. That is the accepted trade-off at this price.

The TC-PG 25/1/E5 is neither the most powerful nor the lightest here, and it makes no claim to inverter quietness. What it brings is runtime well beyond its category: two and a half times that of a compact inverter, because it carries a big generator's fuel tank. If the goal is to sleep through a power cut or cover a full day on site, this is the one. If the priority is carrying the machine single-handed and plugging in a computer, an inverter such as the SG2500i takes the lead again.

One thing stands out immediately on this small Einhell: the ratio between tank size and engine output. Fifteen litres for 2100 watts is double what most rivals in this class offer, and it changes the everyday experience completely. During an evening power cut we ran a fridge, two lamps and a broadband router right through the night without touching it, where a generator with a four-litre tank would have demanded two refills in the dark. The claimed 12.5 hours at two-thirds load is not a marketing figure, it matches what we saw. The front-panel voltmeter is a detail you come to value more than expected: one glance tells you whether the voltage is holding when you plug in another appliance, and the AVR regulation does its job properly with tools and household equipment. The recoil starter needs a firm pull when cold, nothing more. Two honest reservations. This is an open-frame machine, so it is loud: at full load you hear it clearly, and it needs to sit well away from windows and neighbours. And its 36.8 kilos with no wheels is a two-person lift, not something you carry one-handed. For household backup or an off-grid cabin, it remains a very sound buy.
