Detailed overview: Ugreen 90W USB-C car charger, retractable cable

The Ugreen 90W Car Charger turns the cigarette-lighter socket into a genuine charging station: it sits in the middle tier of the Nexode retractable-cable range, between the entry-level 60W version and the more powerful 145W version. With 90W of total power spread across three outputs, it charges up to three devices at once without compromise.

Its main asset is the built-in retractable USB-C cable, up to 70 cm long, which extends and stows with a single pull: no more cable trailing in the cabin. Used on its own, this cable delivers up to 60W, enough to charge a 14-inch MacBook Pro from 0 to 30% in 30 minutes, or an iPhone 16 to 56% in the same time. Two extra ports, a USB-C and a USB-A, round out the charger and cap at 30W each when used alone; combined with the cable, the power of two active outputs at once reaches up to 90W.

Ugreen rates the cable for 25,000 retractions, a mark of durability, and it packs a multi-layer protection system against overvoltage, overcurrent, short circuits, overheating and fire. The compact, flame-retardant unit plugs into any 12V or 24V socket and does not get in the way of the gear lever. It also supports several fast-charging protocols (USB PD, Quick Charge 3.0, PPS), with intelligent power distribution across the connected devices to help protect their batteries.

Compatible with iPhone 17 down to 13, MacBook Pro/Air M1 to M4, iPad, Galaxy S25/S26 and most USB-C or USB-A devices, UGREEN's 90W car charger targets families and professionals who want to charge a phone, a tablet and a laptop without juggling multiple cables. Against the entry-level 60W, it gains the ability to charge a laptop; against the 145W, it stays more compact and more affordable for anyone who does not need to charge four devices at once.

Comparison

The Ugreen 90W Car Charger sits in the middle tier of the Nexode retractable-cable range, between the 60W version (lighter, no laptop charging) and the 145W version (4 outputs, dedicated 100W port). It also compares with powerful USB-C cigarette-lighter chargers on the market, such as the Anker 535 Car Charger, in searches like "ugreen 90w vs 145w" or "retractable USB-C car charger".

In short, the 90W is the sweet spot of the retractable Nexode range: unlike the 60W, it can charge a laptop via its 60W cable; unlike the 145W, it stays more affordable and is enough unless you need to charge four devices or a bulky laptop at full speed. Against the Anker 535, it keeps the edge of a built-in retractable cable, which its direct rival lacks.

We used the Ugreen 90W Car Charger for several weeks, on family trips and solo drives alike. The retractable USB-C cable is the real standout idea: pull it out to plug in the passenger's phone, let go and it winds itself away, no more cables trailing under the gear lever. With its 60W, it charges a phone at full speed and can even top up a MacBook Air on a trip. The two extra ports, USB-C and USB-A, cap at 30W each: plenty for a tablet or a second phone, but you feel the limit if you also want to charge a bulky laptop at the same time, in which case it is best to keep the built-in cable for that device. The unit stays compact, sits well in the socket and does not heat up abnormally, even after an hour on the motorway. One small caveat: without a built-in Lightning or micro-USB cable, you will need to bring your own for older devices. For everyday family use or business trips, this 3-in-1 format with a retractable cable is a genuine comfort.
