Rather than an entry-level engine, SDMO fits a 208 cc Kohler CH270, a reference found on hire-fleet machines. Output peaks at 2,800 W and 2,400 W continuous, split across a TB panel built for UK and Ireland site work: two 115 V 16 A sockets plus one 230 V 16 A socket, each on its own breaker.

Tank size is the most concrete limit of the Perform 3000 TB: 4.1 litres against 15 litres for the Einhell TC-PG 35 and 16 litres for the Scheppach SG5200D, nearly four times less. For a job lasting a few hours, that changes nothing. For a full day on site, a jerry can becomes necessary, where both rivals can run a full day on one tank.

The manufacturer's warranty runs to three years, above the entry-level standard, backed by a parts and repair network.

Worth knowing: since 2026, the portable energy business once badged Kohler (generating sets, water pumps, welding sets, including the SDMO range) trades under the name Rehlko, following an acquisition by the investment firm Platinum Equity. The ranges, the engines and the parts and repair network are unchanged; Brest remains the manufacturing site, with fifteen million euros of investment already completed and as much again planned over the next three years.

Over the long term, no extensive track record specific to this exact model has been found: the Perform 3000 TB does not yet carry the multi-year history that older references in the category can point to. At 45.5 kg, the unit is carried by two people thanks to a tubular frame with anti-shock panels that shrugs off rough handling on site, but with no wheels at all, where a direct rival such as the Einhell TC-PG 35, itself 5.5 kg lighter, includes a wheel kit as standard.

The Einhell TC-PG 35 is cheaper and carries a larger tank with wheels included: on the spec sheet and the price tag, it wins outright. What the SDMO offers in exchange does not show up in a table: a Kohler engine with a genuine professional reputation, four-stage air filtration, a three-year warranty and a proper parts network. It is a trade-off between purchase cost and cost of ownership, one that tips towards the SDMO as soon as the machine sees regular use. The Scheppach SG5200D answers a different need entirely: nearly double the continuous output and a full day's runtime, at the cost of 148 kg and roughly double the budget. For two sockets used a few hours at a time, the Perform 3000 TB remains the most rational choice of the three.
