One early signal is reassuring: its claimed 1020mAh matches Sony's own rated figure exactly, without the inflated numbers (1500, even 2000mAh) some cheap third-party batteries claim, and market experience shows those are usually the ones that deliver least against their promise. That reasoning, though, is by analogy with other brands in the same segment, not a measurement specific to Otech itself: no independent data on this exact brand was found in any language. Otech is a real, identifiable French company, a useful point of contact if something goes wrong, though that's no substitute for an independent check. Like any non-Sony battery on this system, it also carries the standard risk of a startup warning message and a future firmware update restricting how it works. For an occasional backup battery, the price gap remains tempting.
