The genuine LP-E17 keeps a simple promise: 7.5Wh that matches the rating printed on the cell, seamless compatibility across 14 Canon bodies and three mounts since 2015, and no known structural fault on the genuine part, at a time when Canon itself warns about real risks on some non-genuine references. On optical-viewfinder DSLRs, battery life climbs to 800, even 1070 shots per charge, comfortably enough for a full day's shooting. Its limit is size: on the full-frame EOS RP and R8, electronic-viewfinder battery life drops to 210 and 220 shots, well behind bodies fitted with the LP-E6NH, which packs over twice the energy. Charging stays standard (2 to 2.5 hours) with no fast option, and the price on the shelf runs well above compatible references. A safe, honestly limited buy, more compelling on a DSLR than on a full-frame body used continuously.
