Detailed overview: Güde 3200 W inverter generator
The Güde ISG 3200-2 (part number 40721) sits at the top of the German manufacturer's inverter generator range, above the ISG 1200-1 and ISG 2000-2. It targets people who need genuine site-grade or backup power but refuse to give up the current quality of an inverter.
The engine is a 224 cc four-stroke OHV petrol unit rated at 4.5 kW, or 6.1 hp. It delivers 3500 W nominal peak power and 3200 W continuous at 230 V, for a current of 13.9 A. At that level you can run a cement mixer, a site circular saw, a fan heater or, as domestic backup, a fridge, a freezer, lighting and a pump at the same time without difficulty.
Inverter technology remains at the heart of the product. The set produces DC first, then electronically reconstructs clean, stable AC regardless of engine speed. That is what lets you connect a laptop, a television or an appliance with a control board, all things you avoid on an open-frame set. The panel gathers two 230 V sockets, a 12 V output and two USB ports rated 1 A and 2.1 A, joined by an LCD display continuously showing load level, overload warning, low oil and fuel level.
The 7.8 litre tank gives 7.5 hours of runtime at 50% load. The frame measures 605 x 320 x 560 mm for 32 kg net: Güde has integrated two wheels and a suitcase-style telescopic handle, so one person can pull it rather than carry it. Starting is by auto-return recoil pull, with low-oil cut-out and overload protection, and the whole thing is rated IP23M with a quoted sound power of 92 dB LWA.

Comparison
Above 3000 W, the choice comes down to the raw power of an open-frame set versus the conditioned current of an inverter, generally more expensive. Beware the noise figures, they do not compare: 92 dB LWA is a standardised sound-power level, 58 dB(A) a measurement at seven metres. Here is how the Güde ISG 3200-2 sits against three references from our catalogue.

In short, the Güde ISG 3200-2 is the best compromise in the table: the most powerful of the three inverters, lighter than the Zipper and considerably cheaper. The Zipper ZI-STE2800IV offers a sturdier tubular frame for intensive professional use, but at a much higher price for less continuous power. The Mecafer MF3800 remains the runtime champion with its 15 litres and costs less, but its AVR-regulated current does not match an inverter for electronics. The Champion Mighty Atom plays in a lower power class and targets portability. For site work with electronics to run, the ISG 3200-2 is the logical choice.

The ISG 3200-2 answers a question many people face when choosing: do you have to sacrifice current quality to get power? Up to around 2000 W, inverter sets are plentiful and affordable. Above that you normally switch to open-frame machines, louder and without electronic regulation. This Güde holds both ends: 3200 W in steady operation, enough for a cement mixer or a saw, with rebuilt current that a laptop will happily take. The format follows the step up in output. From 18.5 kg on the small ISG 2000-2 you move to 32 kg here, and Güde had the good sense to add two wheels and a suitcase-style telescopic handle: you pull it rather than carry it, which changes everything on a plot of land or a car park. The tank grows from 4.1 to 7.8 litres, for a quoted 7.5 hours at half load, and the LCD display continuously shows load, overload, low oil and fuel level, something often missing at this price. Two things to know. First, noise: 92 dB LWA is the standardised sound-power level, not what you hear from three metres, but a machine of this displacement does not go unnoticed near neighbours. Second, starting, which remains a recoil pull: on a 224 cc engine that calls for a firm tug, especially from cold. That aside, this is one of the few ways to get 3200 W of clean power without moving up to a professional machine.
Frequently asked questions: Güde 3200 W inverter generator
Power and format. The 3200-2 goes from 1700 to 3200 W continuous, its engine doubles in displacement (224 against 99.2 cc), its tank grows from 4.1 to 7.8 litres, and it gains wheels with a telescopic handle to offset its 32 kg.
Yes. With 3200 W in steady operation and a 3500 W peak, it takes the starting surge of a mixer motor or a site circular saw while still delivering clean power for electronic tools.
Yes, and that is rare at this price. The display continuously shows load level, an overload warning, low oil and tank level, so you do not have to guess how many hours are left.
On flat ground, yes: the two wheels and the suitcase-style telescopic handle let one person pull it. Carrying it or loading it into a boot, however, is a two-person job.
No, the ISG 3200-2 starts with an auto-return recoil pull. On a 224 cc engine that calls for a firm tug, particularly in cold weather. There is no starter motor and no battery to maintain.
