Detailed overview: Klarus 21GT-50 5000mAh 21700 battery
The Klarus 21GT-50 is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery in the 21700 format, the high-capacity size that powers the most energy-hungry flashlights and devices. Klarus has matched it to its most powerful models, such as the XT21X Pro or the G15, while keeping it compatible with most devices that accept a protected 21700 cell.
Its rated capacity is 5000mAh, or 18Wh of on-board energy at a nominal voltage of 3.6V. Continuous discharge current reaches 15A, enough to power very high-output torches and devices with high instantaneous draw without flinching. The cell has a built-in protection circuit that cuts off automatically at 4.2V on full charge and around 2.75V on low discharge, on top of short-circuit and overheat protection. Klarus rates it for 500+ charge cycles before any noticeable capacity loss, and an operating range of -10 °C to 60 °C.
Supplied in Button Top format, it measures 75 x 21.5mm for 72g, dimensions worth checking if your torch or charger is machined tight for a bare cell: like any protected cell, it's slightly longer and heavier than a bare 21700. It carries CE and RoHS certification, with end-of-life recycling markings printed directly on the label. The extra size over an 18650 also means more usable energy per swap, useful for search lights, headlamps and any 21700 device pushed hard for long stretches.
As with almost every flashlight brand (Fenix, Nitecore, Keeppower...), Klarus doesn't manufacture the lithium cell core in-house, but sources a professional-grade 21700 cell and adds its own protection circuit, labelling and quality control. This standard industry practice takes nothing away from the reliability of the finished product. For a high-end Klarus torch or any current-hungry 21700 device, the 21GT-50 is a consistent choice with no nasty surprises.

Our tester's review: Pierre Freysinger
The 21GT-50 has done several outings in a Klarus XT21X Pro, and the pairing delivers on its promise: the 5000mAh rating translates into noticeably longer runtime than an 18650, without the 21700 format weighing the whole thing down too much. The 15A continuous discharge has plenty of headroom for the current spikes of very high-output torches, with no excess heat noted during our testing. The internal protection circuit cuts off cleanly at full charge (4.2V) and on low discharge (2.75V), a real comfort compared with a bare cell you have to monitor yourself. One honest gripe: at 72g and 75mm long, it doesn't fit every 21700 housing on the market, with some older adapters or torches machined right to the limit. Like other flashlight brands, Klarus doesn't manufacture the lithium cell core in-house but fits its own circuit and quality control, a common practice with no bearing on the reliability we've seen. For a high-end Klarus torch or any current-hungry 21700 device, it's a safe bet.
Frequently asked questions: Klarus 21GT-50 5000mAh 21700 battery
With a charger designed for 21700 lithium-ion cells, never a NiMH battery charger. Charging is capped at 4.2V and the cell cuts off automatically at full charge thanks to its built-in circuit.
With 5000mAh against 3000 to 3600mAh for a good 18650, the 21GT-50 offers roughly 40 to 60% more runtime, at the cost of a larger, heavier format (72g versus around 50g).
In most cases yes, since it's a standard Button Top cell. It's matched to Klarus torches like the XT21X Pro, but fits any device that accepts a protected 21700, slightly longer than a bare cell.
Like most flashlight brands, Klarus doesn't produce the lithium cell core in-house, but sources professional-grade 21700 cells and adds its own protection circuit and in-house quality control.
Up to 15A continuous discharge, plenty for very high-output flashlights and electronic devices with high instantaneous current draw.
