Duracell CR2 Batteries (x2)

The CR2 battery, also designated CR15H270, is a 3 volt lithium battery prized for its compactness and high energy density. With twice the voltage of a standard alkaline cell (3V versus 1.5V) and a capacity of about 780 to 920 mAh depending on the version, it powers demanding devices in a small format, which explains its popularity.

It is a preferred format for many uses: film and instant cameras (such as Polaroid), smoke detectors, torches and headlamps, connected locks, sensors and alarms, or golf rangefinders. Its lithium chemistry gives it excellent resistance to extreme temperatures and a very stable discharge, where an alkaline battery would fade faster.

From Duracell, this version benefits from Duralock technology, which guarantees charge retention for up to 10 years without use. That is a major asset for equipment you install and forget, such as a smoke detector, or for building a reliable spare stock. It is sold in a pack of 2, in its original packaging.

Note: the single-use CR2 should not be confused with the 15266 (RCR2), a rechargeable lithium-ion battery of the same format but delivering a higher voltage (3.6 to 3.7V), which can damage some devices designed for 3V. For reliable, universal, maintenance-free use, the Duracell CR2 lithium remains a safe bet.
