Imdifa 625 Jump Leads 35mm²

Their substantial 35 mm² cross-section and the quality of their alligator clips are enough for this cable to handle up to 400 amps and start your car. The Imdifa 625 jump leads are designed to connect to the battery of vehicles with an engine displacement of no more than 7 litres for petrol, or 4 litres for diesel. Built to the DIN 72555 standard and 4.5 m long, they will get you out of many bad situations.

In practice, a 35 mm² cross-section puts this cable at the top of the range: the thicker the copper, the more amps it carries without heating up, and the better it suits large engines as well as cold-weather starts, when the battery struggles most. At 4.5 metres, it stays long enough to link two vehicles even when you cannot park them bumper to bumper, a common constraint in a car park or on the roadside.

For a safe jump-start, the connection order matters. First attach the + terminal of the flat battery, then the + terminal of the battery supplying the current; next connect the - terminal of the good battery, and finally the last - clamp to a bare metal part of the engine or chassis of the stranded vehicle, never directly to its - terminal, so the spark stays away from the battery. Start the donor vehicle, let it run for a minute, then start the flat one. Disconnect in the reverse order.

Neatly coiled and stored dry, away from the moisture that oxidises copper, a cable like this lasts for years in the boot. Check now and then that the clamp teeth bite well and stay clean. On recent vehicles with start-stop or sensitive electronics, follow the procedure carefully and, if in doubt, refer to the manufacturer’s manual.
